[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] As of 9 PM on the 19th, the number of new COVID-19 cases nationwide reached the mid-20,000s.
According to Seoul Metropolitan Government and other local governments, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases nationwide from midnight to 9 PM on this day was counted at 24,754. This is 3,709 fewer than the previous day's count at the same time (28,463).
Compared to the same time one week ago on the 12th (25,498), it is 744 fewer, and compared to two weeks ago on the 5th (27,679), it is 2,925 fewer. Although there is still time until midnight when the count closes, the number of new confirmed cases to be announced on the 20th is expected to remain in the mid-20,000s.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters stated, "Our response capacity is being maintained steadily, and the number of new confirmed cases, critically ill patients, and deaths continues to decrease," adding, "We judge that the current situation is a plateau in the decline rate, and due to the lifting of quarantine measures, increased face-to-face contact, and decreased immunity, the numbers are fluctuating to some extent."
As of 9 PM on this day, 13,571 cases (54.8%) were reported in the metropolitan area, and 11,183 cases (45.2%) were reported in non-metropolitan areas.
