Jeongeup-si to Hold 'Halloween Festival' at Jeongeup Station Plaza on the 29th
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province, announced on the 19th that it will hold the first resident-participatory Halloween festival, "Halloween Party with Yeonji Market," on the 29th at Yeonji-dong area and Jeongeup Station Plaza.
The event, hosted and organized by the Jeongeup Reborn (Re:born) Urban Regeneration Residents' Council (Chairman Lee Jae-woon) and sponsored by Jeongeup City, was planned to promote Yeonji Market and revitalize the stagnant commercial district through direct participation of merchants and citizens.
The festival will run from 2 PM to 10 PM.
At the event, performers in Halloween costumes will start a zombie flash mob street parade from the Paris Baguette in downtown, passing through Jungang-ro to the entrance of Jeongeup Station, wishing for the revitalization of businesses and urban regeneration.
Additionally, various planned performances, a ghost song contest, food experiences, a children's flea market, and exhibitions and promotions on the past and present of Jeongeup urban regeneration will be held.
In particular, the haunted house installed at Jeongeup Station Plaza will be designed to introduce traditional Korean monsters such as virgin ghosts, gumiho, and the grim reaper, adapting Western Halloween traditional culture to Korean sensibilities.
Along with this, a hidden ghost-finding game will offer small prizes to those who collect stamps.
The city plans to provide a chilling yet unique Halloween atmosphere through special Halloween makeup and photo opportunities with ghosts.
Chairman Lee Jae-woon said, "We have prepared various programs so that people of all ages can fully enjoy the autumn night atmosphere and Halloween mood," adding, "We hope this event will make Yeonji-dong street vibrant and full of youth."
