27 Countries, 150 Companies and Organizations Participate, Showcasing Various e-Mobility Products and Technologies
Over 102,000 Visitors... Achievements Include 2 Billion KRW On-site Sales and 50 Million USD Export Contracts
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The 2022 e-Mobility Expo held in Yeonggwang, Jeonnam, concluded with high praise for playing a significant role as a business platform.
According to Jeonnam Province on the 18th, this expo, held under the theme "Evolution of Mobility, Small but Bigger Future, e-Mobility!", featured participation from 150 companies and organizations from 27 countries, showcasing a variety of e-mobility products and technologies.
It was recorded that 102,000 visitors attended, with on-site sales reaching 2 billion KRW and export contracts amounting to 50 million USD.
With approximately 2 billion KRW in on-site sales of e-mobility products, the expo firmly established its status as a specialized industrial exhibition for e-mobility.
At the export consultation meeting, 30 buyers from 27 overseas countries including Thailand and Cambodia participated, conducting consultations with 20 domestic companies.
Companies such as Korea High Tech and Daepung achieved export contracts worth 52.14 million USD (approximately 74.8 billion KRW), signaling a renewed momentum for e-mobility exports, which had slowed due to COVID-19.
The e-mobility academic events covered various topics such as support policies for e-mobility companies and classification standards and current status of ultra-small electric vehicles, satisfying both companies and general visitors.
In particular, the introduction of the Korea e-Mobility Cooperative, established to build and operate a shared production support base for e-mobility parts usable by small and medium-sized enterprises, served as an opportunity to fully showcase Jeonnam’s potential as an e-mobility production hub.
At the "Night of Entrepreneurs" event held with participating e-mobility companies, over 100 people from 57 companies attended, during which Yeonggwang County and six companies signed investment agreements related to reshoring facility investment, manufacturing plant establishment, and moving into knowledge industry centers.
Following this, time was allocated for exchanges among related e-mobility companies, institutions, and organizations to listen to corporate suggestions and difficulties, as well as to encourage investment attraction within the province.
Side events included e-mobility test rides, a Black Day event offering discounted purchases of e-mobility products, and a Future Talent Science Festival, successfully drawing visitors’ interest and enthusiasm for e-mobility.
The atmosphere at the venue was further elevated by various cultural performances such as the e-mobility car parade, Black Eagles airshow, and KBS Im Baekcheon’s Back Music.
During the three days from the 14th to the 16th, the "University Student Smart e-Mobility Competition" was held at the e-Mobility Research Center, with 68 teams and over 1,200 participants nationwide competing fiercely.
University students participating in the competition were able to fully demonstrate their passion, expertise, and skills in e-mobility by directly engaging in all processes from design to production, providing an opportunity for further growth.
Min Il-gi, Director of the New Growth Industry Division at Jeonnam Province, said, "Through the expo held after three years, all visitors and companies were able to fully recognize the growth and potential of the e-mobility industry," adding, "We will continue to provide tailored support such as core technology development needed by small and medium-sized e-mobility companies, and support the expansion of the e-mobility industry ecosystem by discovering new demand to expand the e-mobility market."
