‘Challenger’ and ‘Bomb’ Pioneer Korean Cartoonist Park Ki-jeong Passes Away
[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] Park Gijeong, a first-generation Korean cartoonist known for works such as 'Challenger' and 'Bomb Boy,' passed away on the 18th at the age of 85.
According to the cartoon industry, Park had been battling lung cancer and passed away around noon on this day.
Since debuting with 'Song of the Stars' in 1956, Park created numerous works including 'Heo Heo Doctor,' 'Ddungttanji,' 'Mischievous Brothers,' 'Social Manbo,' 'Golden Arm,' 'Challenger,' 'Bomb Boy,' and 'Wrestler.'

The funeral is being held at Seoul Asan Medical Center Funeral Hall Room 2, with the funeral procession scheduled for the morning of the 20th. The burial site is prepared at Yeongnak Hill in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province.
