On-site Inspection of Advanced Marine Leisure Infrastructure to Realize Boseong-type Blue Economy
[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Jeollanam-do Boseong-gun announced that it will visit France for 9 days from the 18th to the 26th to diversify exports through the entry of Boseong tea (cha) into the European market and to prepare momentum for realizing the Boseong-type Blue Economy.
From the 18th to the 19th (local time), they will participate in the 2022 Paris Food Expo, the world's largest food exhibition held every two years, featuring 7,200 booths from 119 countries.
At the Paris Food Expo, the Boseong-gun Tea Producers Association and Bohyang Dawon will participate, promoting over 40 varieties of Boseong tea from 7 companies at the exhibition hall and conducting export consultations. On this day, business agreements are scheduled to be signed with two companies, Ace Food and Dalius Co., Ltd., at the exhibition hall.
Boseong-gun plans to use this business agreement as a foothold for Boseong tea's entry into the European market.
It is especially expected to help diversify Boseong tea export routes, which are currently concentrated in the United States, Japan, China, and Latin America.
At the 2022 Paris Food Expo, 106 companies will participate in the Korean Pavilion with support from the aT Center.
In Jeollanam-do, Boseong-gun, along with Goheung-gun, Hampyeong-gun, Jangheung-gun, and Damyang-gun, will participate in the Paris Food Expo.
On the afternoon of the 19th, they will visit the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in France to meet Ambassador Yoo Dae-jong and discuss cooperation plans to promote Korean tea culture linked to the Korean Wave.
They will also request support for exporting agricultural and marine products from Boseong-gun to the European market and exchange views on the marine tourism sector in southern France.
From October 20th to 22nd, they will visit the National Monument Center in Normandy to promote the entry of Boseong tea into sales outlets and hold promotional and tasting events in Nantes.
Nantes is home to Tenne, a major tea wholesale distributor in France specializing in premium teas.
In August, the representative of Tenne (Pierre) visited Boseong-gun and purchased Boseong tea samples, so this visit will be a reciprocal visit to introduce Boseong tea and discuss export-related matters.
A marine advanced site exploration for realizing the Boseong-type Blue Economy is also planned.
From the 23rd to the 26th, they plan to visit the Monaco Maritime Museum in southern France and the European Mediterranean Civilization Museum in Marseille.
They will explore marine leisure and facilities such as motorboat leisure to discover advanced cases applicable to the Yulpo Marine Leisure Tourism Hub Project being carried out in Boseong-gun.
Currently, Boseong-gun is preparing to leap into the largest marine leisure hub on the southern coast by promoting the Yulpo Marine Leisure Tourism Hub Project worth 43 billion KRW and is closely cooperating with Jeollanam-do to create the Yeojaman National Mudflat Marine Garden, which involves an investment of 218.5 billion KRW.
Kim Cheol-woo, the governor of Boseong-gun, said, “Through this overseas tour, we will diversify Boseong tea export routes, find answers to various issues such as business agreements for export expansion and setting directions for the green tea industry by understanding overseas market trends. We will carefully examine advanced overseas cases for realizing the Boseong-type Blue Economy and consider ways to apply them to our county’s projects.”
Meanwhile, the overseas schedule has been minimized to three people: Kim Cheol-woo, the governor of Boseong-gun, one tea-related staff member, and one marine sector staff member, enhancing mobility and efficiency.
