Spreading Respect and Positive Awareness for Childcare and Parenting to Make Seoul a Better Place to Raise Children
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City has designated the period from the 24th to the 28th as the first-ever "Childcare Week" and will hold about 90 diverse events including performances, experiences, lectures, and exhibitions for families with infants and toddlers and childcare workers throughout Seoul.
On the 18th, Seoul City announced that to spread respect and positive awareness about childcare and parenting and to create a "Seoul good for raising children," it has designated "Childcare Week" by ordinance and will hold the first "Seoul City Childcare Week" event this year. The inaugural "Childcare Week" event is based on the revised Childcare Ordinance, proposed by Kang Seok-ju, Chair of the Health and Welfare Committee of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, which was amended on the 17th.
The "1st Seoul City Childcare Week" event will be held over five days under the theme "Seoul good for raising children, respecting the value of childcare and parenting," and will be conducted by Seoul City, autonomous districts, city and district childcare support centers, Seoul Imagine Nation, and the Seoul Foundation of Women and Family.
The main programs include ?a special lecture titled "Thank You" by a Happy Parenting Mentor for families with infants and toddlers and childcare staff ?a Mom and Dad Happiness Sharing Market ?Childcare Workers' Day event ?healing programs for childcare staff ?a special exhibition for Childcare Week at Seoul Imagine Nation, among others.
Seoul City will first support parents in finding the value of happy parenting by hosting parenting lectures and talk concerts by parenting experts on various topics such as prescriptions for parents' hearts, parenting coaching for working moms, how to truly play with children, wise family life, and child development in the COVID-19 era.
Additionally, diverse family participation experience programs will be held both offline and online, including infant and toddler sports days, puppet shows, cooking classes, Halloween light play, online concerts, and a special exhibition for Childcare Week (Seoul Imagine Nation) that children and parents can enjoy together.
As this is Seoul City's first Childcare Week event, there will also be abundant programs for childcare workers. These include a childcare awareness improvement campaign, a childcare teacher respect challenge, special lectures on childcare teachers' rights enhancement, online psychological tests for childcare staff, and Childcare Workers' Day for awarding outstanding childcare workers. These programs aim to support childcare workers who are striving to make Seoul a good place to raise children and encourage them to provide better childcare services.
