Chungmu Training in Gyeongnam Region Starts Today for the Second Half of the Year

This Chungmu training will include emergency preparedness plan inspections, situation response exercises, mobilization training for technical personnel, vehicles, and construction machinery, as well as national infrastructure damage recovery drills.
View original image[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] In Gyeongsangnam-do region, a second half Chungmu exercise will be conducted to establish a full-scale security posture at the regional level, involving mobilization training of personnel, vehicles, and construction machinery.
On the 17th, the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced, "From today until the 21st, according to the 'Emergency Resources Act' and other regulations, government agencies (Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of National Defense) have led annual exercises since 1981 targeting 3 to 4 metropolitan cities and provinces. Local governments, military units, police, and related agencies participate to verify the effectiveness of wartime preparedness plans and check the mobilization readiness of national resources in emergency situations."
During the Chungmu exercise period, the government, local governments, and military will conduct resource mobilization (personnel and materials), counter-terrorism, damage recovery, war refugee accommodation, and industrial mobilization production training.
This exercise targeting Gyeongsangnam-do involves 10 government ministries including the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and Military Manpower Administration, as well as 18 metropolitan and local governments including Gyeongsangnam-do, Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency, Tongyeong Coast Guard, the Army’s 39th Infantry Division and General Maintenance Depot, the 52nd Logistics Support Group, Air Force Education Command, and Navy Jinhae Base Command.
On the first day, the 17th, the effectiveness of emergency preparedness plans will be verified through inspections of Chungmu plans by local governments and the Military Manpower Administration, establishment of military mobilization operation plans, on-site inspections of stockpiled materials, and checks of key industrial mobilization companies.
On the 2nd and 3rd days, resource mobilization training will be conducted, actually mobilizing about 400 personnel including wartime technical staff and about 300 vehicles and construction machinery subject to mobilization, to practice handover and reception procedures between regional military units and administrative agencies. The handover and reception procedures refer to the process of mutual transfer and acceptance of personnel and materials who have responded to conscription or summons among related agencies. On the 4th day, emergency damage recovery training will be conducted for nationally important facilities (power plants) and wartime military support facilities (prisoner-of-war camps), along with an 'information and communication mobilization training' for operating military command posts and local government wartime situation rooms in case of emergencies. On the final day, the 21st, participating ministries, local governments, military, and related agencies will hold an on-site review meeting to discuss improvements and developments.
