F·U·N is an acronym reflecting LG Electronics' commitment to delivering the First, Unique, and New experiences. LG Electronics plans to introduce virtual spaces identical to real homes and offer related services.
To this end, LG Electronics announced on the 17th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Unity at the LG Electronics Seocho R&D Campus in Yangjae-dong, Seoul, to develop 'Digital Human and Meta Home' technologies. The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Byung-hoon, LG Electronics Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and Kim In-sook, CEO of Unity Korea.
The two companies will jointly develop technologies to introduce digital humans capable of real-time communication and meta homes that replicate actual homes through digital twins. By combining LG Electronics' voice recognition, natural language processing, and situational understanding technologies with Unity's global metaverse platform and digital twin and digital human implementation technologies, they plan to realize realistic digital humans and meta homes.
Digital humans can communicate with facial expressions and gestures like real people in virtual spaces. They can recognize customer situations and provide information to customers in real time. They can also assist in controlling home appliances used by customers.
Meta homes are virtual spaces identical to customers' real homes, allowing customers to monitor and remotely control home appliances in real time. They also feature the ability to easily move and arrange furniture or products that are difficult to move in reality. Additionally, meta homes can be used as communities to share product usage know-how with others.
