'Incheon Instrument Performance Challenge' to be Held on the 22nd... 10 Amateur Teams Nationwide to Compete
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The "2022 Incheon Instrument Performance Challenge," hosted by Incheon City and organized by the Incheon Music Content Association, will be held at 6 p.m. on the 22nd at the Incheon Lifelong Learning Center.
This event is themed around "instruments," "family," and "harmony" to create musical emotions conveyed through instruments for citizens weary from COVID-19.
For the competition aimed at discovering new performers, over 130 teams registered, and after the first and second rounds of judging, a total of 10 teams advanced to the finals.
There will also be performances and various experiential events showcasing the characteristics of each instrument such as guitar, bass, and piano. Performances by the Lee Seungchul Band, guitarist Jang Haeun, Incheon Municipal Theater Company, the Love Post Musical Team, and the Sum Chamber Orchestra can also be enjoyed.
Incheon is the birthplace of the instrument market, home to 13 instrument companies including the "Big 2" Samick Musical Instruments and Young Chang Musical Instruments, which once dominated the domestic instrument market.
From the post-liberation Ascom era through the 1990s, Incheon had a music scene comparable to Seoul, reflecting the city's musical and industrial characteristics shaped by its developed wood industry.
Although the local company "School Music," which ranks first in domestic online sales, still maintains its presence, its influence has significantly weakened. To continue this past tradition and revive Incheon as a city of instruments, the Incheon Instrument Performance Challenge has been organized once again.
