At the meeting, Seo-gu Mayor Kim I-gang and committee member Kim Jae-cheol were appointed as co-chairmen.
The Future Innovation Committee gathers and proposes opinions on the direction of district administration innovation and detailed implementation plans, and also serves as a communication channel between the public and government by collecting opinions from civil society and discovering areas for improvement in district administration.
The committee operates through three subcommittees: Administrative Innovation, Future Vision, and Cultural City. ▲The Administrative Innovation subcommittee functions to diagnose, analyze, and suggest advancement plans for overall district administration; ▲The Future Vision subcommittee plans and proposes mid- to long-term development ideas and new policies for Seo-gu; ▲The Cultural City subcommittee will engage in activities related to creating a 15-minute cultural city linking life, work, and leisure.
At the first meeting, the committee members stated, “Let us lead changes in Seo-gu that residents can feel and significantly improve the quality of life, establishing Seo-gu as the center of Gwangju,” and pledged to combine their experiences and capabilities for the future development of Seo-gu.
The committee plans to strengthen participatory and communicative administration through field activities by each subcommittee and actively address civil complaints such as residents’ inconveniences and difficulties.
Seo-gu Mayor Kim I-gang said, “Innovation begins with breaking away from the familiar and escaping old customs and habits,” adding, “Together with experts from various fields who have stepped forward for Seo-gu’s development, we will harness the power of collective intelligence to newly design the future of Seo-gu.”
