Seoul Provides Vaccines for 40,000 Animals... Owners Pay Only 10,000 KRW Vet Fee per Vaccination
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 12th that it will conduct a "Rabies Vaccination Support Project" for pets, dogs and cats, for 15 days from the 15th to the 29th to prevent the occurrence of rabies.
Rabies is a zoonotic infectious disease transmitted to animals and humans through bites or scratched wounds from infected animals. It is a dangerous disease with a high fatality rate, but it can be prevented through vaccination, so it is important to vaccinate once a year.
To encourage rabies vaccination, Seoul will provide vaccines for 40,000 animals. During the support project period, if you get a rabies vaccination, you only need to pay 10,000 KRW for the veterinarian's vaccination fee.
A total of 825 animal hospitals in Seoul will participate in this rabies vaccination, and guardians can visit an animal hospital near their residence with their pets during the vaccination support period to receive the vaccination.
The vaccination support targets pets aged 3 months or older. However, rabies vaccination support is only available for dogs that have been registered, so if you have not registered your dog yet, you must register first.
Seoul is also running a project to support "implantable animal registration chips" so that unregistered dogs can be registered easily and safely. Citizens who want to register their animals can visit participating animal hospitals with their ID and their dog to register. Since the registration chip is supported by Seoul, guardians only need to pay the implantable animal registration fee of 10,000 KRW.
