Solving Urban Issues in Thailand and Turkey with K-Smart City Technology
KOTRA and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Hold 'Smart City Roadshow'
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Yeju] KOTRA announced on the 11th that it held a Smart City Roadshow in Bangkok, Thailand, and Istanbul, Turkey to support the export of promising domestic SMEs in the smart city sector and to discover international cooperation demands, in collaboration with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Thailand and Turkey are countries with high interest in solving traffic congestion, infrastructure shortages, environmental issues, and responding to disaster situations such as floods and earthquakes. In Thailand, in addition to seven smart city pilot areas including Bangkok, Phuket, and Chiang Mai, about 50 local governments plan to develop smart cities. Turkey is also promoting the construction and pilot operation of smart city infrastructure in seven cities: Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa, Antalya, Kayseri, Konya, and Trabzon.
KOTRA operates Smart City Cooperation Centers in five regions (Da Nang, Riyadh, Bangkok, Istanbul, Jakarta) to discover local demand and support the advancement of Korean companies.
In this roadshow, domestic companies possessing smart city technologies required locally were recruited after analyzing the smart city demands of Thailand and Turkey in advance. Additionally, seminars, one-on-one consultations, and meetings with major clients were held to introduce smart solutions to local cities and companies and to seek cooperation opportunities.
