[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] It has been revealed that 7 out of 10 high-ranking officials who retired from the Ministry of Health and Welfare in the past three years were re-employed at hospitals.
According to data submitted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare to Kang Ki-yoon, a member of the National Assembly's Health and Welfare Committee from the People Power Party, among 24 retirees from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, 17 (70.8%) were re-employed at hospitals, 3 at law firms, 2 at companies, and 1 at a research institute.
The ranks of retirees re-employed at hospitals were 10 at grade 4, 6 at professional term appointment level A, and 1 at grade 3. According to the Public Officials Ethics Act, if a subject for employment review intends to be employed at a target institution within three years from the retirement date, they must undergo an employment review by the relevant Public Officials Ethics Committee.
