BNK Gyeongnam Bank: "Face-to-Face Fraud Voice Phishing, Not on Our Watch"
Intensive Promotional Campaign for Voice Phishing Prevention
BNK Gyeongnam Bank employees are conducting intensive promotional activities at branches to prevent face-to-face fraud-type voice phishing.
View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] BNK Gyeongnam Bank announced on the 5th that it conducted intensive promotional activities to prevent face-to-face extortion type voice phishing both online and offline.
BNK Gyeongnam Bank focused its promotional efforts during the two-week intensive promotion period from September 19 to 30, which was led by the Financial Supervisory Service to prevent face-to-face extortion type voice phishing.
At offline branches, promotional posters distributed by the Financial Supervisory Service were posted at all branches, and employees wore shoulder sashes engraved with “Cash delivery requests are voice phishing” while on duty.
Additionally, leaflets containing cases of voice phishing damage and prevention methods were handed out to customers visiting the branches.
Online, on BNK Gyeongnam Bank’s Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube channels, a video jointly produced by the financial sector to prevent face-to-face extortion type voice phishing damage was uploaded.
Furthermore, Executive Director Lee Jung-won and staff from the Financial Consumer Protection Department visited branches near the head office to inspect the promotional activities and share cases of face-to-face extortion type voice phishing.
Lee Jung-won, Executive Director in charge of Financial Consumer Protection, said, “BNK Gyeongnam Bank carried out various promotional activities both online and offline to maximize effectiveness during the intensive promotion period led by the Financial Supervisory Service to prevent face-to-face extortion type voice phishing. As face-to-face extortion type voice phishing scams continue to increase, we plan to continue efforts to prevent voice phishing scams and protect customers’ financial assets even after the promotion period.”
From January to the end of September this year, BNK Gyeongnam Bank prevented 21 cases of voice phishing at branches, protecting customers’ assets worth 558 million KRW.

Also, the Financial Consumer Protection Department at the head office blocked 84 cases through monitoring activities that detect signs of voice phishing, safeguarding 713 million KRW.
