President Yoon Approves Appointment of Cho Kyu-hong as Minister of Health and Welfare

On the 4th, the Presidential Office announced through a press release in the afternoon, "As the National Assembly adopted the confirmation hearing report for candidate Cho, President Yoon has approved the appointment."
Earlier, the ruling and opposition parties agreed on the confirmation hearing report for candidate Cho during the full meeting of the National Assembly's Health and Welfare Committee around 2 p.m. Candidate Cho's confirmation hearing was completed on the 29th of last month.
Candidate Cho will officially assume the ministerial position on the 5th. He will deliver an inaugural address and attend the National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee's audit as the minister. Candidate Cho was appointed as Vice Minister on May 9. He became minister just four months after his appointment as vice minister.
The vacancy in the Ministry of Health and Welfare minister position has been resolved after 132 days. Previously, candidates Jung Ho-young and Kim Seung-hee consecutively failed to secure the position, prolonging the vacancy. Candidate Jung was unable to assume the ministerial post due to allegations of preferential treatment involving his children and himself, while candidate Kim was barred due to charges of violating the Political Funds Act.

Former Minister of Education and Science and Technology Lee Ju-ho has been nominated as Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs and Minister of Education and is awaiting a confirmation hearing in the National Assembly.
