On the 2nd, a report was received by 119 emergency services from a church in Jeungpyeong-gun, Chungbuk, stating that "9 people ate something like ginseng and are feeling unwell."
The 119 ambulance team arrived at the scene and transported 3 people showing symptoms of nausea and vomiting to two hospitals in Cheongju.
The remaining 6 people with similar symptoms traveled by private car to nearby hospitals and are receiving treatment.
The fire authorities suspect that they may have mistaken the roots of toxic plants such as American ginseng (Agastache rugosa) for ginseng and consumed them.
