Yoo Seung-min: "If Lee Jae-myung Criticizes 'Basic Income,' the Ruling Party Should Also Remove 'Basic Income' from Its Platform"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Yoo Seung-min, a former lawmaker considered one of the next ruling party leadership candidates, criticized Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, for his 'basic income' policy and advised on the 30th that the 'basic income' in the People Power Party's platform should also be removed.
On the same day, Yoo said through his social network service (SNS), "If our party wants to boldly criticize basic income, there is one thing we must do. That is to abolish the basic income stated as number one in our party's platform," he said.
He pointed out, "The platform and policies announced by the People Power Party on September 2, 2020, stated, 'The state will actively support citizens to lead a stable and free life through basic income...'" and added, "Trying to criticize basic income while maintaining this platform causes our party to be inconsistent and tangled."
Yoo said, "So even when the Democratic Party attacks us by saying, 'Look at your party platform,' we cannot defend ourselves," and raised his voice, saying, "Our party should propose fair income (negative income tax) as an alternative to basic income to help more people in need."

He also criticized the 'Lee Jun-seok incident.' He said, "Why don't we make efforts to clearly establish our policies and logic and properly attack Lee Jae-myung's representative policy fraud and malignant populism, while hastily convening the national committee to oust the party leader and abruptly amending the party constitution and regulations overnight?" He added, "The revision of the platform to abolish basic income must be done immediately."
