Next Year’s Gyeongnam Province ‘Resident Participation Budget Projects’: What Will Be the Choice of the Residents?
Online Voting from September 30 to October 9
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Gyeongnam Province will conduct an online vote for residents from the 30th of this month to October 9th to select the 2023 Resident Participation Budget Projects.
According to the province, a total of 461 proposals were received from March to May, including 102 cases in the construction and transportation sector and 50 cases in the environment sector.
The proposed projects were reviewed and specified by the relevant departments of the province, cities, and counties, then deliberated by the 9 subcommittees of the Resident Participation Budget Committee and the Gyeongnam Province Resident Participation Budget Steering Committee, resulting in a total of 62 projects being selected as the final voting targets.
Gyeongnam Province will open a category to gather residents' opinions on budget allocation for major new policy projects over 3 billion KRW and event-type projects over 300 million KRW among the voting items.
Residents will also be able to participate in the general budget outside of the resident participation budget projects.
Among the voters, 120 people will be selected by lottery to receive Zero Pay mobile gift certificates worth up to 50,000 KRW, and the final results will be announced after the general meeting in October following the end of voting.
Any Gyeongnam resident can participate in the online vote, which can be done via mobile or computer on the ‘Gyeongsangnam-do Resident Participation Budget website’.
After reviewing the project details, voters can select the projects they think should be prioritized, with each person allowed to vote for 11 projects.
Among these, for province and city/county linked cooperative projects, one project per city/county totaling 5 projects can be selected, and for provincial participation type, youth participation type, and life safety type, two projects each can be selected.
