Jeonnam National University Hospital Celebrates 112th Anniversary, Declares 'New Smart Hospital Era'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam National University Hospital (Director Ahn Young-geun), celebrating its 112th anniversary, has unveiled a new hospital rendering and declared the beginning of a 'New Smart Hospital Era.'
Jeonnam National University Hospital announced on the 27th that it held the 112th anniversary ceremony and the 5th anniversary ceremony of Jeonnam National University Children's Hospital on the 26th at 4 p.m. in Myeonghak Hall of Jeonnam National University College of Medicine.
The event was attended by about 300 guests, including hospital officials such as Director Ahn Young-geun, Jeonnam National University President Jung Sung-taek, Dong-gu District Mayor Lim Taek, Nam-gu District Mayor Kim Byung-nae, former Emergency Response Committee member of the People Power Party Joo Ki-hwan, and Kim Jeong-hyun, Chairman of the People Power Party Gwangju City Party Committee.
The ceremony, divided into two parts, featured the 112th anniversary ceremony of Jeonnam National University Hospital in the first part, and the Children's Hospital ceremony and employee awards for the anniversary in the second part.
In the first part, congratulatory video messages from 11 members of the National Assembly and local government heads from both the Democratic Party and the People Power Party, including Gwangju Mayor Kang Ki-jung, National Assembly members Seong Il-jong, Kim Won-i, and Min Hyung-bae, were screened.
Additionally, Director Ahn appeared in a presentation video promoting the construction of the new hospital, receiving great applause from the attendees.
In the presentation video, Director Ahn stated, “The new hospital will lead the future economy of Gwangju and Jeonnam through smart advanced medical care. We will also realize improvements in universal medical environments and move toward a healthy and economical new smart hospital era.” He declared, “With a vigorous challenge for a medical powerhouse, a future where imagination and ideals are realized, and a smart spirit of challenge that adds creativity to medicine, we will create a new vision for Gwangju and Jeonnam centered on people for a better future.”
Notably, the event unveiled the aerial and perspective views of the new hospital, Jeonnam National University Hospital’s ‘future-type new smart hospital.’
The revealed aerial and perspective views showed the new hospital composed of two main buildings, embodying the tradition of Jeonnam National University Hospital and a vision toward a new future.
In particular, the brick structure of Building 1, symbolizing the beginning of Jeonnam National University Hospital, was adopted as the design motif for the lower floors of the new hospital, inheriting a solid and strong tradition. At the same time, the pair of tall towers with a bright, advanced image demonstrated the hospital’s leadership and strong will to advance toward the future medical system of the new era.
Jeonnam National University President Jung Sung-taek said, “Jeonnam National University Hospital must evolve into a hospital operated by organizational strength and systems, a beautiful medical community of cooperation, consideration, coordination, and collaboration, and become the best friendly hospital that impresses customers not only with treatment but also with care.” He added, “I hope it will establish itself as a warm-hearted hospital and a regional public medical institution that realizes social value.”
