Starbucks partners carried out cleaning work on the wooden floors, window frames, and pillars of Hamnyeongjeon and Jeukjodang at Deoksugung Palace, which had become sticky due to fire-retardant treatment. Starbucks supported the production of a worn-out copper plate for the passport-making rubbing experience booth of the Korean Empire located in the Gwangmu Reform Exhibition Hall of Gojong at Seokjojeon, Deoksugung Palace, and donated unmanned ticket vending machines to two Deoksugung ticket counters.
Since 2009, Starbucks has signed an agreement with the Cultural Heritage Administration as a guardian of cultural heritage and has carried out various activities such as preserving traditional culture in local communities, sponsoring the restoration and preservation of the Korean Empire Legation in the United States, donating to national independent cultural heritage, providing scholarships to descendants of independence activists who are university students, and supporting cultural events at royal palaces. Over the past 14 years, more than 3,000 Starbucks partners have participated in volunteer activities at Deoksugung Palace, contributing a total of 16,000 hours.
