SK Rent-a-Car and Dangjin City Sign Investment Agreement for 'Automobile Complex Facility'
Acquisition of 100,000-Pyeong Site to Establish an 'Automobile Complex Logistics Center'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] SK Rent-a-Car is partnering with Dangjin City, Chungnam Province, to create an ‘Automobile Complex Logistics Center’ to enhance vehicle management and operational efficiency and revitalize the local economy.
On the 26th, SK Rent-a-Car announced that it held an ‘Automobile Complex Facility Investment Agreement Ceremony’ with Dangjin City, Chungcheongnam-do, at the Grand Walkerhill in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. About 40 officials attended the ceremony, including Oh Seonghwan, Mayor of Dangjin; Jeong Bonhwan, Director of the Economic and Environmental Bureau; Gu Gyohak, Director of the Construction and Urban Bureau; Hwang Ilmun, CEO of SK Rent-a-Car; Hwang Jaeyeon, CEO of SK Rent-a-Car Service; and Shin Jeongsik, Head of SK Rent-a-Car Rental Headquarters.
SK Rent-a-Car plans to purchase approximately 100,000 pyeong of land in Godae-ri, Songak-eup, Dangjin City, Chungnam Province, and invest a total of about 100 billion KRW by 2024 to build the ‘Automobile Complex Logistics Center.’
The site will consist of an 80,000-pyeong area for new and existing vehicle merchandising and a 20,000-pyeong space for convenience facilities. In the new vehicle zone, inspections before delivery, tinting, and installation of black boxes will be carried out. The existing vehicle zone will provide a space where a series of merchandising processes such as accident repairs, general maintenance, and car washing can be completed at once. It will have the capacity to store 10,000 vehicles simultaneously, enabling it to handle large orders with ease. Additionally, on the 20,000-pyeong site, visitor convenience facilities and an expanded new car delivery center, currently operated in Songdo, Incheon, will be established.
Through the ‘Complex Logistics Center,’ SK Rent-a-Car will improve both vehicle management and operational efficiency. The 15 logistics centers currently dispersed across major nationwide hubs such as Seoul, Incheon, Daejeon, Daegu, Busan, and Gwangju will be consolidated into one location, achieving economies of scale to reduce operating costs and enhance operational efficiency.
