New Secretary-General of 'Sarangui Yeolmae' Appointed: Hwang In-sik, Former Head of Seoul Han River Project Headquarters
The Community Chest of Korea announced on the 22nd at its board meeting that Hwang In-sik (photo), former head of the Seoul Han River Project Headquarters, has been appointed as the 9th Secretary General.
Secretary General Hwang was born in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk, graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in law, earned a master's degree in social welfare from the University of Washington Graduate School, and a doctorate in social welfare from Yonsei University Graduate School. He entered public service in 1998, served as Director of Life Welfare Bureau in Seocho-gu, and held various positions in Seoul City including Director of Disability Welfare Division, Director of Management Planning at the Planning and Coordination Office, Director of Administration, and spokesperson. Last year, he served as the head of the Seoul Han River Project Headquarters.

Secretary General Hwang’s term will begin on the 1st of next month and last for three years. The Secretary General of the Community Chest of Korea is an ex officio full-time director, overseeing overall operations of the secretariat including fundraising and distribution projects.
