Supporting Safe School Life! ... Ulsan Office of Education Conducts 2nd School Violence Survey
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education will conduct the second school violence survey of 2022 until October 18.
The survey results will be used to establish measures necessary for the prevention and response to school violence by investigating experiences and perceptions related to school violence.
The survey will be conducted online and via mobile devices, sampling 4% of students from 4th grade elementary school to 2nd grade high school at 23 selected schools.
The content covers students' experiences of witnessing, victimization, and perpetration of school violence from the beginning of the first semester of the 2022 academic year until the survey period.
After entering the school name, grade, name, and authentication number, students watch a school violence prevention education video and participate in the survey. Students who have difficulty participating at home can use computers at school during the survey period.
The survey results will be announced on the School Information site in February next year.
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education is promoting various school violence prevention measures to create a safe and peaceful educational community free from school violence.
They conduct school violence prevention education such as harmony programs linked to the curriculum and strengthen prevention education against verbal violence, group bullying, and cyber violence.
They operate peaceful classroom communities for 200 classes across elementary, middle, and high schools, helping students improve relationships centered on respect and consideration based on restorative life education.
The Office of Education designates educational community relationship recovery zones to support the creation of a school culture focused on relationship recovery for school violence prevention.
To detect early signs and occurrences of school violence, they strengthen proactive counseling activities by homeroom and counseling teachers and support the dedicated healing center for victimized students.
Rapid response teams, including one team at the Office of Education and one team each at the Gangbuk and Gangnam support offices, are also operated to enable schools to respond actively at the early stages of school violence incidents.
Using the one-stop online school violence support system ‘Dapullim Talk,’ they enhance support for school violence prevention education and incident response at school sites.
Until October 9, they operate a student language culture improvement education week, focusing on preventing verbal violence, which accounts for a significant portion of victimization types.
