Kooksoondang Exclusively Launches 'Markus Molitor', German Wine with 8 Generations of Heritage
Robert Parker Points Total 21 Times with 100 Points, Most 100-Point Scores Among German Wines
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Kooksoondang announced on the 22nd that it will exclusively introduce the rising German wine brand ‘Markus Molitor’ in Korea.
The Markus Molitor winery, which has been producing wine for eight generations, entered its heyday when the current owner Markus Molitor took over the family business in the 1980s. Through perfect terroir analysis and a reinterpretation of Germany’s unique grape ripening classification, Pradikatwein, it has been recognized by wine experts worldwide and captivated consumers’ tastes.
In particular, in 2015, the wine industry was surprised when three 2013 vintage wines simultaneously received a perfect score of 100 points from American wine critic Robert Parker. Since then, it has received a total of 21 perfect scores to date, making it the winery with the most 100-point awards among German wineries. Markus Molitor owns ‘Zeltinger Sonnenuhr,’ currently the most expensive vineyard in Germany. This vineyard is famous for its nearly 60-degree slope, and all work is done manually due to the steep incline. Especially, the grape harvest is delayed as much as possible to allow sufficient time for the grapes to ripen.
The Markus Molitor winery is also known as a producer of premium dry wines. To help consumers easily distinguish the sweetness levels of the wines, dry wines have white capsules, semi-dry wines have green capsules, and sweet wines have gold capsules, enhancing consumer convenience.

A Kooksoondang official said, “Kooksoondang discovers world-renowned wines that have not been officially introduced in Korea and introduces them to domestic consumers. This time, we have exclusively launched a total of nine wines from the Markus Molitor winery, which has a deep history spanning eight generations, in Korea. Until now, German top-brand wines were only imported through parallel imports, but now domestic consumers can access them at more affordable prices.”
