Construction Contract Amount in Q2 Reaches 83 Trillion Won... 8.8% Increase Year-on-Year
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 22nd that the contract amount for construction work in the second quarter of this year reached 82.7 trillion KRW, an 8.8% increase compared to the same period last year.
While the public sector decreased, the private sector led the growth.
The contract amount for public construction projects ordered by the national and local governments was 13.7 trillion KRW, down 4.9% from the previous year. Private construction projects increased by 12.0% to 69 trillion KRW.
By construction type, civil engineering contracts increased by 17.0% year-on-year to 17.4 trillion KRW due to growth in industrial facilities and others. Building contracts rose 6.8% year-on-year to 65.3 trillion KRW, driven by increases in industrial buildings, factories, and workplaces.
By company size, the top 1-50 companies recorded 33.9 trillion KRW (+8.7%), ranks 51-100 recorded 5.5 trillion KRW (-1.1%), and ranks 101-300 recorded 7.3 trillion KRW (+18.7%). Companies ranked 301-1000 recorded 6.7 trillion KRW (+21.1%), and other companies totaled 29.2 trillion KRW (+6.1%).
By site location, the metropolitan area recorded 42.4 trillion KRW, an 8.4% increase year-on-year, while non-metropolitan areas increased by 9.2% to 40.3 trillion KRW.
By headquarters location, the metropolitan area recorded 51.1 trillion KRW (+9.2%), and non-metropolitan areas recorded 31.3 trillion KRW (+8.1%).
