Suncheon City Young Farmer Kwon Hyun-jeong Wins Excellence Award at 'Youth Agribusiness Idea Competition'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced on the 21st that young farmer Kwon Hyun-jung, who is receiving agricultural settlement support funds as a young successor farmer, won the Excellence Award at the 2022 Youth Agribusiness Idea Competition hosted by the Rural Development Administration on the 3rd.
The Youth Agribusiness Idea Competition is held annually by the Rural Development Administration to promote interest in agribusiness startups and nurture future young talents in agriculture by inviting and awarding outstanding startup ideas and cases in the agricultural field from young people.
This year’s competition was conducted with 10 finalists nationwide who passed the first document screening in four categories: new technology convergence, ICT utilization, venture startups, and processing tourism. The evaluation focused on economic feasibility, applicability in agricultural fields, and the ripple effect on regional agriculture.
Awardee Kwon Hyun-jung participated with an idea to develop a 4-minute easy-to-cook meal kit product balancing the nutrition of soybeans and maesaengi (a type of edible green algae), earning the honor of the award. She will receive a prize of 300,000 won and preferential benefits when selected for the ‘2023 Young Farmer Competitiveness Enhancement Project.’

Kwon Hyun-jung expressed her ambition, saying, “I plan to operate an experience farm in the future, linking it to experiential tourism businesses such as maesaengi soybean noodles and maesaengi rice cake soup, leading regional economic revitalization through the sixth industrialization utilizing village resources.”
