Seongnam City Expands Free Flu Vaccinations to All Ages for Disabled and Basic Livelihood Security Recipients
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will begin free influenza (flu) vaccination starting from the 21st.
The free vaccination targets a total of 341,382 people, including people with disabilities and basic livelihood security recipients (previously aged 40 and above), whose eligibility has been expanded to all age groups this year, as well as children aged 6 months to 13 years, pregnant women, and those aged 60 and above.
Seongnam City has secured a total budget of 7.9 billion KRW, including 3.4 billion KRW from national and provincial funds, for this vaccination campaign.
To ensure social distancing and safe vaccination, the city has designated different vaccination dates and locations based on age groups.
Children eligible for a single flu vaccination and pregnant women can receive their vaccinations at designated medical institutions starting from October 5.
Additionally, those aged 75 and above can be vaccinated from October 12, those aged 70 to 74 from October 17, those aged 65 to 69 from October 20, and residents of Seongnam aged 60 to 64 based on their resident registration address can be vaccinated from October 24 at designated medical institutions.
According to the 8th-term mayor’s campaign pledge, people with disabilities and basic livelihood security recipients residing in Seongnam are eligible for free flu vaccination regardless of age.
When receiving the free vaccination, you must bring your identification card.

The flu vaccine can be administered on the same day as the COVID-19 vaccine. However, the injection sites must be different, and after vaccination, recipients should be observed for 15 to 20 minutes before leaving.
