KOTRA Hosts '2022 Korea Defense and Security Export Week'
13th Edition This Year... Offline Event After 3 Years
62 Buyers from 45 Companies in 13 Countries Visited... Total of 290 Export Consultations Conducted
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Yeju] KOTRA announced on the 20th that it will hold the '2022 Korea Defense & Security Week (KODAS 2022)' event at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 2 in Goyang City in connection with the Korea Defense Industry Exhibition (DX KOREA).
KODAS 2022 is the largest domestic defense and security export consultation event, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Defense Acquisition Program Administration. It started in 2011 and is now in its 13th year. For the past two years, it was held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year’s offline KODAS 2022 will feature buyers from 45 companies across 13 countries including the United States, India, Turkey, and Indonesia, along with 62 domestic mid-sized and small enterprises, conducting a total of 290 export consultations. After the export consultations, participating buyers will also visit the '2022 Korea Defense Industry Exhibition (DX KOREA 2022)' held on the 21st to view South Korea’s advanced weapon systems and continue export consultations with companies participating in the defense industry exhibition.
In addition to the KODAS 2022 export consultation event, KOTRA is implementing various support projects to help defense and security companies enter overseas markets, including the global partnering project for defense and security companies in cooperation with 128 overseas trade offices, government contract export package support, and overseas exhibition promotional activities.

Jung Seokjin, head of KOTRA’s Defense Materials Trade Support Center, said, "We understand that public expectations for the defense sector are high due to recent record-scale defense export orders to Poland," adding, "We will conduct this export consultation event thoroughly to actively support the overseas market entry of South Korea’s mid-sized and small defense and security companies."
