Lotte Chilsung, 10 Million Cans of 'Milkis' Exported Annually Three Years After Entering Taiwan Market
Exported 10 Million Cans of Milkis to Taiwan from January to August This Year... 810% Increase Compared to Last Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Eun-mo] Lotte Chilsung Beverage announced on the 19th that it has exported more than 10 million cans (based on 250mL) of the carbonated drink 'Milkis' to the Taiwan market from January to August this year.
This export record is the highest achievement in three years since Lotte Chilsung Beverage began full-scale exports of Milkis to Taiwan in the second half of 2020, representing approximately 810% growth compared to the same period last year. Taiwan is the fourth country where Milkis has been exported over 10 million cans annually, following Russia, China, and the United States. Starting with exporting 200,000 cans of Milkis to Taiwan in 2020, Lotte Chilsung Beverage exported 2.3 million cans last year and expects to export more than 15 million cans this year, an increase of about 550% compared to last year.
Lotte Chilsung Beverage noted that the demand for healthy foods increased due to COVID-19, and they captured the taste of Taiwanese consumers by emphasizing the concept of a soft carbonated drink containing milk. They enhanced brand awareness through promotions in collaboration with Taiwanese influencers, communication via social networking services (SNS), and review marketing through consumer experiences. The popularity of Korean dramas such as 'Twenty-Five Twenty-One' and 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo' in Taiwan also boosted interest in Korean food and beverages.
In particular, the brand awareness built through online and offline channels naturally led to purchases by quickly placing Milkis in large discount marts like 'Costco' and Taiwan's largest supermarket chain 'PX Mart,' increasing consumer accessibility. Currently, Milkis is sold at all 14 Costco stores in Taiwan, including Taipei Neihu and Zhonghe branches, as well as over 1,000 PX Mart stores.
