Gwangju City Election Commission Hosts 'High School Student Debate Competition'
'Allowing Two Consecutive Presidential Terms' Topic... Jeong Gwang High School's 'Ilsin Uilsin' Team Wins Award
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan Election Commission announced on the 16th that the Ilsinwoilsin team from Jeonggwang High School won the grand prize at the 8th Bitgoeul High School Debate Competition.
This debate competition was held in a non-face-to-face format using an online video conferencing system.
Under the theme "The president should be allowed to serve two consecutive terms," teams of two high school students from Gwangju formed a total of 15 teams from 11 schools and engaged in heated debates.
As a result of the competition, the Ilsinwoilsin team (students Park Sanghyun and Lee Seyoung) from Jeonggwang High School and the "The Power of Living Together" team (students Ryu Minjae and Kim Minju) from Gwangdeok High School won the grand prize and gold prize, respectively.
These two teams will represent Gwangju at the "2022 Korea Open Debate Competition (High School Division)" hosted by the National Election Broadcasting Debate Commission on November 1st.

A Gwangju Election Commission official said, "The Election Commission holds a high school debate competition every year to promote a mature debate culture," adding, "We hope that through this debate competition, students will deeply reflect on the election system and have an opportunity to grow into mature democratic citizens."
