40 Members Visit Pohang City to Support Recovery Efforts
Forty members of the Changwon City Volunteer Organizations Council visited Pohang, Gyeongbuk, to contribute their efforts in supporting disaster recovery.
View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced on the 16th that 40 members of the Changwon Volunteer Organizations Council visited Pohang, Gyeongbuk, which suffered great damage from Typhoon No. 11 ‘Hinnamnor,’ to support recovery efforts.
This support activity took place in Ocheon-eup, Nam-gu, Pohang City, one of the areas most severely flooded due to the overflow of Naengcheon stream caused by hourly rainfall of 100mm during the typhoon.
The members rolled up their sleeves to help clean up household goods and remove soil and debris from homes filled with filth and mud caused by the record-breaking heavy rain, offering a warm hand to encourage residents who were in despair.
Chairman Jeon Tae-wan said, “I was deeply saddened to see the typhoon damage in the Gyeongbuk area,” and added, “I hope this can be of some help in a situation where many evacuees desperately need assistance due to the typhoon damage.”
The city plans to actively support recovery efforts so that the citizens of Pohang who suffered from the typhoon damage can be comforted and return to a healthy daily life as soon as possible.
