The research group conducted the campaign to commemorate World Suicide Prevention Day 2022, which was on the 10th, and to foster a culture of respect for life in the local community and improve awareness of suicide.
The campaign was jointly hosted by the Social Welfare Research Association of the Provincial Council and the Suicide Prevention Association, with participation from university student volunteers.

Jo Inje, the chairperson of the research group, said, “Unfortunately, South Korea ranks first in suicide rates among OECD member countries. According to 2020 statistics, the suicide rate reaches 25.7 per 100,000 people.” He added, “We will continue the research group’s activities with greater focus on restoring local community cohesion, expanding social safety nets, and managing and treating high-risk suicide groups.”
