Lundrigo "Establishing Eco-Friendly Circular Model for 600 Million Plastic Laundry Waste Annually"
Introduction of Recycled Material PCR Vinyl
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheolhyun] Uisikju Company (CEO Cho Sungwoo), which operates the mobile laundry service 'Laundrigo,' announced on the 15th that it will introduce eco-friendly vinyl made from PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) material by collecting and recycling customers' laundry vinyl bags.
Previously, Laundrigo pursued ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management by collecting eco-friendly vinyl and sending it to recycling companies, but due to the low actual recycling rate, it has now made a decisive switch to PCR eco-friendly vinyl certified with an environmental mark as a better environmental alternative.
According to Laundrigo's research, 600 million laundry vinyl bags used for dry-cleaning garment packaging are discarded annually in South Korea. Laundrigo has completed an eco-friendly circular model that transforms collected vinyl back into laundry vinyl. Furthermore, it plans to lead the way in creating a better future environment by providing eco-friendly vinyl and circular systems to local laundromats and other laundry industry sectors in the future.
Recycled PCR is characterized by the ability to produce products with less energy and reduced carbon emissions, resulting in a lower environmental burden. It can be recycled into various products such as industrial pallets and hangers, not just vinyl. Laundrigo plans to actively collect vinyl through the 'Go Green Pouch' attached inside the dedicated laundry collection box called 'Laundret' and regularly deliver it to vinyl production and recycling companies.
