Meanwhile, Typhoon Nanmadol, the 14th typhoon of the season, which formed at 3 a.m. on the 14th about 1,300 km southeast of Okinawa, moved to 1,370 km southeast of Okinawa by 9 a.m. the same day. It is expected to move northwest and reach about 280 km west of Kagoshima by the morning of the 19th. Although the typhoon's path is highly variable since its formation, it is currently assessed that Nanmadol is more likely to make landfall on Kyushu, Japan, rather than heading toward Korea. A KMA official stated, "About two-thirds of numerical forecast models predict Nanmadol will make landfall on Kyushu."
