Gwangju Dong-gu, Operation of 'Resident Jury' to Review Implementation Plan of 8th Term Elected Promises
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is operating a residents' jury until the 30th of this month, where residents directly participate in the establishment process of the 8th term elected mayor's pledge implementation plan to evaluate and prepare alternatives.
The residents' jury is a system that guarantees resident participation in district administration and enhances administrative transparency and execution by having residents directly inspect and evaluate the pledge implementation process as part of the Manifesto Movement, a civic movement for pledge implementation.
Dong-gu commissioned the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters to ensure fair and diverse residents can serve as jurors. Thirty-five residents aged 18 or older from Dong-gu were finally selected through random ARS telephone interviews considering region, gender, and age.
They held the residents' jury appointment ceremony on the 2nd and began full-scale activities divided into five groups. In the future, the residents' jury plans to present recommendations through discussions and evaluations of pledge implementation plans in various fields such as economy, welfare, and humanities.
Since the launch of the 8th term elected mayor, Dong-gu plans to finalize the pledge implementation plan in October by revising and supplementing the recommendations reflecting the residents' jury opinions on the four-year pledge implementation plan to fit the actual situation.
