Gurye-gun Hosts the 41st County Residents' Day Event
Gunmin's Day Event Held as a Place for All Residents to Enjoy and Unite Together
[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yuk Miseok] Jeollanam-do Gurye-gun announced that it will hold the "41st Citizens' Day Event" from September 20 to 21 at Gurye Public Stadium and Seosicheon Sports Park, and other locations throughout Gurye-gun.
On the first day, the 20th (Tuesday), a citizens' singing contest involving all residents will be held on the outdoor stage at Seosicheon Sports Park to celebrate Citizens' Day. The finalists selected through the preliminary round held on September 4 (Sunday) will compete passionately, and invited singers Park Seojin and Lee Jeongok will perform to add to the festive atmosphere.
On the following day, the 21st (Wednesday), the Citizens' Day event will take place at Gurye Public Stadium. Starting with distinctive entrance ceremonies by each eup and myeon (township), representatives from each eup and myeon will unite to compete in sports such as tug-of-war, 400m relay, jokgu, soccer, gateball, ssireum, group jump rope, and hangung.
County Governor Kim Sunho held a briefing on the progress of the Citizens' Day event on the 13th (Tuesday) and said, "Since the event could not be held for the past two years due to COVID-19, we will ensure a successful event while thoroughly managing safety and medical support to make it as safe as possible."
Lee Jongsuk, chairman of the Jirisan Namak Festival and Citizens' Day Event Promotion Committee, expressed expectations for the event, saying, "Through this festival, we hope to gather the development capabilities of Gurye residents and make the 'Citizens' Day Event' a time for all citizens to enjoy together and unite."
