Held at Yeouido Park for 3 days from the 22nd to the 24th
73 organizations and groups participate, offering a rich program including safety experiences, exhibitions, and performances
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 14th that it will hold the '2022 Seoul Safety Festival' for three days from the 22nd to the 24th under the slogan "A Promise to Protect Citizens' Happiness, Safe Seoul."
The Seoul Safety Festival, held annually since 2007, is the largest safety culture event in Korea and is celebrating its 16th edition this year. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the event was held online for the past two years but will be conducted as an in-person event for the first time in three years. Under the theme "A Place to Spread Safety Culture with Citizens," the event will be held at Yeouido Park's 'Cultural Square' with the participation of 73 organizations and groups.
With growing expectations for post-COVID-19 daily life recovery and increasing social activities, various safety experience programs related to these themes will be held throughout the venue over the three days.
The programs consist of 77 activities across five categories: fire, daily life, traffic, future, and harmony. Participants can experience safety rules and information through diverse programs prepared by participating organizations in each category. The five types of programs include ▲11 fire safety programs ▲9 future safety programs, among others. Notably, many programs incorporate drones, robots, NFTs, and other technologies spotlighted by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, providing engaging content while raising citizens' interest in future safety.
On the first day, the 22nd, citizen participation events such as the Safety Golden Bell, Strong Challenge, and Children's Hero Costume Contest, along with various performances, will be held. On the 23rd, a safety pledge ceremony attended by key figures from various sectors including Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, and a fire truck pulling contest will take place. On the 24th, unique events such as the Youth Disaster Rescue Robot Competition will be held. Additionally, there will be a citizen safety artwork exhibition, a unique fire truck photo zone, and a fire safety NFT issuance event, offering a wealth of attractions.

Meanwhile, to prevent COVID-19 infection, a quarantine safety experience program will operate from entry to exit of the venue. Citizens visiting the event will undergo temperature checks and hand sanitization at the entrance and will learn self-directed quarantine rules through infection prevention education, allowing them to safely enjoy the experiences. Choi Tae-young, head of the Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters, said, "We hope many citizens will show interest and participate in the Seoul Safety Festival, where various safety experiences can be enjoyed in one place," adding, "This event will further spread the safety culture in our society."
