Gwangju Seo-gu Implements 'Food Culture Improvement Project' Targeting Restaurants
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Yi-gang) is conducting a 'Food Culture Improvement Project' targeting restaurants facing economic difficulties, such as small business owners.
According to Seo-gu on the 13th, the 'Food Culture Improvement Project' is a citizen cultural movement aimed at preventing the waste of large amounts of food and establishing a safe food culture.
In March, Seo-gu supported 1,000 sets of serving utensils such as ladles, tongs, and scissors to 300 restaurants around the Food Culture Special Street to promote the culture of serving food by taking only what you eat.
In May, to ensure clean management of spoons and chopsticks, 100,000 hygienic utensil cases were provided to 50 newly designated Safe Restaurants this year.
This month, to improve the hygiene level of restaurants, 250 paper aprons per location are being provided to 450 small-scale general restaurants mainly serving meals.
Seo-gu plans to continuously promote the Food Culture Improvement Project, supporting hygiene supplies such as hygienic utensil cases and paper aprons to improve restaurant hygiene levels until the end of this year.
A Seo-gu official said, "We will continuously promote various food culture improvement projects to spread a healthy food culture and actively respond to residents' health and the changing dining-out culture."
Meanwhile, Seo-gu designates and manages 214 hygiene-rated establishments, 376 Safe Restaurants, and 24 model restaurants, and also supports certification consulting for the restaurant hygiene rating system so that food hygiene businesses can improve their hygiene management capabilities independently.
