Driver Who Hit Pedestrian While Turning Right and Fled Caught
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] A bus driver who hit a pedestrian while making a right turn in downtown Gwangju and fled the scene has been apprehended by the police.
The Gwangju Western Police Station announced on the 13th that they have arrested Mr. A, a man in his 70s, the driver of a chartered bus who hit a pedestrian while making a right turn.
Mr. A is accused of hitting a woman in her 70s, Ms. B, while making a right turn on a road in Pungam-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju, around 7:20 a.m. that day, and then fleeing the scene.
Ms. B died at the scene.
The police identified the driver by contacting the chartered bus company based on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, and Mr. A voluntarily appeared at the police station after being contacted.
