Park Jeongha, chief spokesperson of the People Power Party, stated in a commentary on the 10th, "We will listen more closely to the voices of the people so that Chuseok can be a time to share warmth with family."
Park emphasized, "It should be a joyful holiday, but there are many neighbors in our society, such as flood victims, who find it difficult to properly celebrate Chuseok," adding, "The People Power Party and the Yoon Seok-yeol administration will make meticulous efforts to help these people return to their daily lives as soon as possible."
He continued, "We have prepared various measures to ease the burden of Chuseok shopping, but the economic situation felt by the people is still challenging," and added, "To establish hopeful livelihood policies like the full moon of Hangawi, the People Power Party and the Yoon Seok-yeol administration will listen more attentively to the voices of the people."
President Yoon Seok-yeol also showed a focus on people's livelihood from the first day of the Chuseok holiday. The day before, President Yoon visited the homeless free meal center 'Myeongdong Bapjip' located at Myeongdong Cathedral in Jung-gu, Seoul, to volunteer. On the same day, President Yoon said, "Since taking office as president, I have come to think anew about the reason for the government's existence," adding, "When the people are struggling, I must make them feel 'the government is by my side, watching my difficulties and trying to do something.' That is the basic duty of the government."
Earlier, the Democratic Party also delivered a message focusing on people's livelihood just before the Chuseok holiday on the 8th. Im O-kyung, spokesperson for the Democratic Party, said in a commentary, "The Democratic Party, led by party leader Lee Jae-myung, will not take their eyes off caring for people's livelihood even during the Chuseok holiday," adding, "We will share the pain and sorrow of the people. We will prioritize urgent policies for stabilizing the lives of ordinary people, supporting small business owners and SMEs."
