Gwangju Nam-gu Hosts the 9th Nam-gu Residents' Book Festival
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is holding a writing contest as a detailed program ahead of the ‘9th Nam-gu Residents' Book Festival’ scheduled for November.
According to Nam-gu on the 8th, the theme of the writing contest is ‘Traveling through Books,’ prepared to promote reading among local residents.
Participants can choose one of three categories to enter: Family Book Exhibition, My Inner Poetry Collection, or Reading Essay Contest.
The Family Book Exhibition is aimed at families and features a corner where participating families introduce a book they have selected.
The My Inner Poetry Collection category, open to all ages, invites participants to introduce a poem that remains in their heart, while the Reading Essay Contest, open only to elementary school students, requires reading one of three books selected as this year’s books by the Nam-gu Residents' Book Festival Promotion Committee and submitting a book report.
The submission period for the contest is from the 13th of this month to October 7.
Application forms can be downloaded from the Nam-gu Integrated Library website and must be submitted via email within the submission period.
The winners will be announced on October 28 on the Nam-gu Integrated Library website or notified individually. Nam-gu will select a total of nine winners, three from each category, awarding the Mayor’s Award, the Chairperson’s Award, and the Superintendent of Education’s Award.

The awards ceremony will be held at the opening ceremony of the 9th Nam-gu Residents' Book Festival on November 5 at Yuan Neighborhood Park in Bongseon-dong.
