View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Kyung-jun] Prosecutor General nominee Lee Won-seok visited the National Police Hospital in Songpa-gu, Seoul, ahead of Chuseok to comfort police officers and firefighters undergoing inpatient treatment.
According to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office on the 7th, Lee met with Lee Seung-rim, director of the Police Hospital, and wished for the speedy recovery of police officers and firefighters injured while performing official duties, delivering consolation gifts.
Lee also visited the Seoul Eastern Sunflower Center located within the Police Hospital, received an explanation about the support system for sexual violence victims, and urged them to do their best in providing medical, investigative, legal, and counseling support to the victims. Previously, Lee had instructed frontline police stations to respond strictly to sexual violence crimes.
This visit was reportedly carried out abruptly based on Lee's belief that the prosecution and police are not competitors but should cooperate to protect the fundamental rights of the people.
