Hong Nampyo, mayor of Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, said this to citizens during his visit to explore public welfare on the occasion of the Chuseok holiday.
On the 7th, Mayor Hong visited the Jinhae Senior Welfare Center, inquiring about the well-being of the elderly using the facility, encouraging the staff, listening to their difficulties, and continuing his public welfare exploration activities.
During lunchtime, he volunteered in meal distribution and said, “I thank the staff who always strive to provide enjoyable leisure activities for the elderly despite difficult conditions,” adding, “I will pay close attention to ensuring a pleasant and comfortable place for the elderly exhausted by COVID-19.”
Earlier, Mayor Hong made a surprise visit to the Jinhae Public Health Center, encouraging the COVID-19 situation room staff and requesting thorough quarantine measures, including the operation of screening clinics during the holiday period.
In the afternoon, he visited Jinhae Central Market and Gaeumjeong Market, meeting citizens and merchants who came to prepare ritual items, checking price trends and the supply status of seasonal goods.
To the citizens he met on site, he said, “Seeing citizens hesitate to purchase ritual items due to rising prices is disheartening,” and added, “Through the Price Countermeasure Situation Room, we will monitor 16 seasonal items in real time and continuously inspect to prevent consumer burdens caused by price collusion.”
