Yeonggwang-gun Successfully Hosts the 46th County Residents' Day Event
[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 7th that the ‘46th Yeonggwang Residents' Day Event’ was successfully concluded over two days from the 3rd to the 4th at Yeonggwang Arts Center.
The Residents' Day event was originally planned for three days until the 5th, but due to the northward approach of Typhoon Hinnamnor, the fireworks festival on the night of the 4th and the commemorative ceremony on the 5th were regrettably canceled.
The 46th Yeonggwang Residents' Day began on the morning of the 3rd with a cutting ceremony for exhibitions including paintings, photography, calligraphy, scholar's rocks, and poetry, followed by 22 experiential events, residents' performances, town and township singing contests, children's singing contests, and celebratory performances, showcasing a variety of cultural and artistic events.
With 22 diverse experiential activities such as eel catching experience, drone fishing experience, and resin grip talk making, children holding hands with their parents joyfully participated in the experiential events, establishing a culture of shared enjoyment by awarding Pok?mon bread to those who completed more than five activities.
The subsequent events included residents' performances where residents freely showcased their honed skills, town and township talent contests, and children's singing contests, all organized and participated in directly by the residents.
The commemorative concert featured congratulatory performances by various singers including Baek Ji-young, Lim Joo-ri, Jaeha, Kim San-ok, Han Su-san, Ban Ga-hee, Park Jin-do, and Rolling Quartz, creating a harmonious venue enjoyed by people of all ages and genders.
County Governor Kang Jong-man said, “This event comforted residents who endured difficult times due to COVID-19 and enhanced residents' unity and pride in culture and arts through diverse cultural and artistic events,” adding, “I am grateful for the dedication and passion of the ‘Yeonggwang Residents' Day Promotion Committee’ and the ‘Yeonggwang Residents' Day Executive Committee’ as well as all related personnel who hosted and organized this event.”
Meanwhile, as a preemptive measure to protect residents' safety due to the typhoon's approach, the commemorative ceremony was canceled, and on the 5th, an awards ceremony for the Residents' Award and Haengnam Filial Piety Award was held in the second-floor conference room of the county office with only the awardees' families invited.
