Lotte World Tower, 'Rubber Duck Project'... "Returned to Seokchon Lake after 8 Years"
32-Day Sculpture Exhibition... Expected to Revitalize Surrounding Area
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Lotte World Tower announced on the 7th that it will hold the 'Rubber Duck Project Seoul 2022' in collaboration with Songpa District Office from the 30th of this month to the 31st of next month.
This event is being held at Seokchon Lake for the first time in 8 years. The previous Rubber Duck Project, held from October 14 to November 14, 2014, attracted about 5 million visitors. The Rubber Duck, which first appeared in Saint-Lazare, France in 2007, is a large-scale public art project by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman. Over the past 16 years, it has toured 16 countries worldwide with more than 25 exhibitions.
A large balloon Rubber Duck measuring 18m in height, 19m in width, and 23m in length will be displayed at the east lake of Seokchon Lake to provide a visual attraction. A pop-up store will also operate, selling limited edition goods and hosting a stamp rally photo zone event. The influx of visitors through this event is expected to benefit the surrounding commercial areas, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy in areas such as Bangi-dong Food Alley, Seokchon Lake Cafe Street, and Songridan-gil.
The world's first stamp rally photo zone event featuring Rubber Duck friends will operate nine photo zones including Rainbow Duck, Skull Duck, Dracula Duck, and Ghost Duck, in line with the upcoming Halloween season, offering a unique enjoyment of encountering new Rubber Ducks.
Customers who purchase more than 30,000 KRW within the complex will receive a passport-themed stamp book. By visiting nine locations inside Lotte World Tower and Mall, participants can collect stamps and receive prizes on a first-come, first-served basis according to the number of stamps collected: original toy dolls (7-9 stamps), Rubber Duck magnets (5-6 stamps), and Rubber Duck stickers (3-4 stamps).
