Ministry of SMEs and Startups Holds Emergency Situation Review Meeting on Typhoon Damage
Minister Lee Young of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups convened an emergency situation inspection meeting on typhoon damage on the 6th at the Seoul Regional Office of SMEs and Startups in the Government Complex Gwacheon, Gwacheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, and is assessing the damage status.

Minister Lee attended at the Seoul Regional Office, while the Sejong Headquarters of the Ministry, as well as the Busan, Daegu-Gyeongbuk, Gwangju-Jeonnam, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam Regional Offices participated via video conference system.
As of 11 a.m. that day, it was confirmed that a total of 22 markets and 1,562 stores nationwide suffered flooding damage due to the typhoon. In Pohang, flooding damage was confirmed in 11 markets including Duho, Ocheon, Yanghak, and Jukdo markets. In particular, the damage is severe in Guryongpo Market and Ocheon Market located in the southern part of Pohang. In the Gyeongju area, damage occurred in Jungang Market and Bulguksa Shopping Market.
Regarding the damage in Pohang and Gyeongju areas, the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Office of the Ministry explained that local governments such as Gyeongsangbuk-do, Pohang City, Gyeongju City, and Ulleung County, along with the Small Enterprise and Market Service regional centers and merchant associations, are continuously monitoring the damage on-site and have formed on-site response teams to share the situation and respond together. In the Busan, Gyeongnam, Ulsan, and Gwangju-Jeonnam areas, flooding and facility damage have been confirmed in some traditional markets and shopping districts so far. The Ministry is dispatching related department staff to the sites for continuous on-site monitoring and is taking measures to ensure that damage recovery and support can be promptly carried out within the joint response network of 'Regional Office - Local Government - Merchant Association.'

Minister Lee ordered, "Since typhoon damage has occurred ahead of the Chuseok holiday, all regional office heads should go to the sites to visually confirm the damage situation and respond promptly." He added, "Since the safety condition of facilities may be vulnerable after the heavy rain and typhoon, the operation of the situation room must be maintained until the damage is fully restored."
