Jangseong-gun Takes Proactive Measures Against Typhoon 'Hinnamnor'
[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 5th that it took preemptive measures over the past weekend as Typhoon Hinnamnor No. 11 is expected to be closest on the morning of the 6th.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration forecast, Hinnamnor will arrive 150 km away from Jangseong-gun at 7 a.m. on the 6th.
The expected rainfall is 123 mm with a maximum wind speed of 45 m/s, corresponding to a typhoon intensity of 'very strong.' Afterwards, it is expected to move away from Jangseong and exit into the sea about 340 km northeast of Busan by the afternoon.
As damage to residents due to strong winds and heavy rain is anticipated, Jangseong-gun quickly proceeded with on-site inspections and departmental meetings.
On the 3rd, County Governor Kim Hanjong and officials from the responsible departments visited the Samseo and Namchang natural disaster risk improvement districts and the Songhyeon steep slope area to check the maintenance status.
On the morning of the 4th, an emergency situation briefing meeting was held in the situation room on the 2nd floor of the county office. Following the weather forecast report, the meeting focused on ▲ thorough preparation for evacuees due to house flooding and damage caused by heavy rain ▲ rapid restoration system activation in case of power and communication outages caused by strong winds ▲ efforts to minimize damage to fruit and horticultural farms, livestock barns, etc. ▲ strengthening pre-inspection activities in landslide-prone areas and establishing resident evacuation plans ▲ pre-inspection of underground passages, rivers, drainage channels, and sewers ▲ pre-removal of fixed and illegal outdoor advertisements, and other departmental response measures.
Governor Kim Hanjong, who presided over the meeting, urged related officials to make special efforts to achieve 'zero human casualties' and 'minimize property damage.'
