POSCO Corporate Citizenship Friends, Positive Impact with Partner Companies through 'Good Prepayment' at Gwangyang Jungma Market
Over the Past 3 Years, a Total of 700 Million KRW Prepaid at Gwangyang Jungma Traditional Market to Support Small Business Owners and Vulnerable Groups
Distribution of Goods Exchange Tickets to Local Social Welfare Facilities Including Gwangyang Multicultural Family Support Center
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seonsik] ‘Corporate Citizen Friends,’ a social contribution activity involving POSCO and its partner company employees, carried out a ‘Good Prepayment’ campaign at Jungma Market in Gwangyang on the 2nd, ahead of Chuseok, to revitalize the local economy and support vulnerable groups.
Now in its third year, the ‘Good Prepayment’ initiative involves prepaying a certain amount at traditional market stores within the region and issuing goods exchange tickets, which are then distributed to vulnerable groups in the community.
Notably, this year’s campaign attracted attention by aligning its schedule with the ‘Korea Together Sale’ period conducted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, aiming to help overcome the COVID-19 crisis and stimulate consumption to revitalize the local commercial district.
The total support scale for Jungma Traditional Market by POSCO and participating companies in Corporate Citizen Friends amounted to approximately 20 million KRW, with the prepaid tickets delivered to the Gwangyang Multicultural Family Support Center and the Love Sharing Welfare Foundation.
Additionally, to provide more diversified support to the local community, some purchases were made in goods at Jungma Market and delivered to the Gwangyang Happiness Welfare Center, where they were packed into boxes and gifted as Chuseok holiday gift packages to local neighbors.
At the event, Cho Eun-gu, Head of POSCO’s Win-Win Growth Group, said, “We hope that the Good Prepayment activity of Corporate Citizen Friends, now in its third year, will contribute to revitalizing the local commercial district and help the community, including small business owners, share the warmth of giving.”
Local merchants also expressed their gratitude to POSCO and its partner companies, saying, “The Good Prepayment, now in its third year, has become a unique sharing activity in the region. It has been a great help in revitalizing the local traditional market ahead of Chuseok.”
Meanwhile, Corporate Citizen Friends simultaneously held a ‘Together Busking’ event at Jungma Market on the same day, providing performance opportunities for local artists and offering cultural and artistic viewing experiences to local citizens and small business owners visiting Jungma Market.
