Governor Park emphasized, "Since Typhoon Hinnamnor is an unprecedented typhoon that is expected to cause significant damage to Gyeongnam, thorough preparation is needed more than ever."
The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted that Typhoon Hinnamnor, the 11th typhoon of the season, is rapidly moving north and is expected to make landfall on the southern coast of Gyeongnam on the morning of the 6th.
In response to the KMA forecast, the province issued Emergency Level 1 and, following Governor Park’s special instructions, all departments of Gyeongnam Province will conduct pre-inspections of large construction sites, roads, river facilities, and other infrastructure throughout the weekend.
Governor Park urged residents, "Please carefully check around your homes and workplaces and listen to broadcasts to avoid any damage, and exercise special caution."
The province is dispatching on-site situation managers to each city and county to guide and inspect ▲preparatory measures ▲maintenance of sewage pipes and drainage facilities ▲pre-control status of flood-prone areas.
Earlier, on the 2nd, Governor Park held a countermeasure meeting with related organizations including city and county offices, the Office of Education, and the Korea Water Resources Corporation.
At the meeting, he instructed a comprehensive response, including pre-inspection of facilities managed by all departments and dispatching situation managers to cities and counties.
For coastal cities and counties along the southern coast where typhoon damage is expected, he ordered, "Although recent rainfall was not enough to cause soil erosion, if the risk of landslides or retaining wall collapses is deemed high, actively consider evacuating residents."
Gyeongnam Province stated that it has been monitoring the typhoon’s path 24 hours a day prior to issuing Emergency Level 1 at the Disaster Headquarters.
Depending on the typhoon’s path, scale, and intensity, the Disaster Headquarters will be upgraded to Level 2 and disaster response personnel will be reinforced.
