Gwangyang Steelworks Talent Volunteer Group Leads Sharing Culture with Participation of 20 Teams
Attracting Attention with Diverse Services Including Hairdressing, Calligraphy, and Longevity Photo Shoots
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks (Director Lee Jin-su) announced on the 3rd that it conducted joint volunteer work with Gwangyang City in Sanbon Village, Okryong-myeon, spreading positive influence in the local community.
On this day, 20 volunteer groups from the Gwangyang Steelworks Talent Volunteer Corps, utilizing the talents of the steelworks employees, were active in various fields.
In addition to about 150 members of the Gwangyang Steelworks Talent Volunteer Corps, the Gwangyang City Small Volunteer Society, Okryong-myeon Saemaeul Women's Association, and partner organizations of the Talent Volunteer Corps joined forces to participate in spreading a culture of sharing within the community.
Gwangyang Steelworks attracted attention by listening to residents' voices and carrying out customized volunteer activities for neighbors in need.
The △Wallpaper Specialist Talent Volunteer Corps △Hope Light Electrical Talent Volunteer Corps △Happiness Connection Laundry Talent Volunteer Corps △Dustproof Net Talent Volunteer Corps visited residents' homes directly and provided electrical repairs, wallpapering, laundry services, etc., improving the living environment of the elderly.
The △Medical Talent Volunteer Corps △Haircut Talent Volunteer Corps △Foot Massage Talent Volunteer Corps △Snapshot Photography Talent Volunteer Corps △Calligraphy Talent Volunteer Corps △Nail Art Talent Volunteer Corps △Knitting Talent Volunteer Corps offered various services such as longevity photo shoots, foot massages, and beauty care at the village hall, bringing joy to the residents.
Additionally, the △Science and Technology Talent Volunteer Corps △Green Talent Volunteer Corps △Care and Watch Talent Volunteer Corps △Evergreen Mural Talent Volunteer Corps installed village signboards, maintained roadside areas, conducted disinfection, and painted village road walls, enhancing the village landscape.
Director Lee Jin-su of Gwangyang Steelworks also visited Sanbon Village with Mayor Jeong In-hwa of Gwangyang, encouraging employees who were working hard for the village and leading the spread of a sharing culture by participating in electrical repairs, foot massages, and wallpapering volunteer work.
In particular, Gwangyang Steelworks added meaning to the volunteer work by having a communication session with Sanbon Village residents and promising to continue sustainable social contribution activities and develop together with the local community.
Director Lee Jin-su of Gwangyang Steelworks, who participated in the volunteer work, said, “I thank all the volunteer members who carried out volunteer activities for neighbors even on weekends,” and added, “Gwangyang Steelworks will continue to communicate with the region and carry out various social contribution activities to achieve mutual growth.”
An elderly resident of Sanbon Village said, “With this volunteer activity, our village seems full of people and lively,” and expressed gratitude by saying, “Thank you to Gwangyang Steelworks for carrying out volunteer work generously.”
Meanwhile, since the establishment of the Talent Volunteer Corps in 2014, Gwangyang Steelworks has continuously launched volunteer groups, and in June last year, signed an MOU with Gwangyang City to activate volunteer work. It is actively striving to realize a company that works with the local community by presenting a model where companies and society develop together for coexistence and mutual growth through volunteer activities linked with partner organizations.
